About the Faculty

The Faculty of Economics of “Gladzor” University of Yerevan was established in 1991, which includes the Chair of General Economics. The first head of the department was Ph.D., Prof. Lukashen Hovakimi Badanyan (1992-1993), then Ph.D., Prof. Hovhannes Karapety Hovhannisyan (1993-2001).

Since 2001, the Chair has been headed by Ph.D., Prof.Khoren Alberti Mkhitaryan, 2019-2020 - Ph.D., Bakur V. Martirosyan, 2020-2021, Ph.D., Prof. Sergey S. Sukiasyan, from 2021 until now the chair is again headed by Ph.D., Prof.Khoren Alberti Mkhitaryan:

From 2004-2005, the faculty has been transitioning to a three-level system of teaching: bachelor's, master's and postgraduate studies.

A credit accumulation and transfer system has been introduced since 2007.

Since 2007-2008, there is also a part-time department at the Faculty of Economics, the duration of study is 5 years.

When organizing its activities, the Department is guided by the decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, the Scientific Council of the University;by the charter of the chair, with the semi-annual work plans of the Chair and other internal regulatory documents.

In order to implement the objectives of the Chair and to ensure the achievement of the final results outlined in the professional educational program, the teaching staff of the Department is constantly replenished and staffed with doctors-professors, candidates and associate professors, the best specialists in the field. As of 2015 13 lecturers teach in the department.

Collaboration

In order to organize pre-graduate educational and research internships, the Department of General Economics of “Gladzor” University cooperates with the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, a number of commercial banks of the Republic of Armenia: “Ardshinbank” CJSC, “Ameriabank” CJSC, “Araratbank” CJSC, “ID Bank” CJSC, “VTB Bank” CJSC, “UNIBANK” CJSC, “Evocabank” CJSC, “ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK” CJSC, “Armeconombank” OJSC, “Inecobank”” CJSC, “Converse Bank” CJSC, Accountants Association of Armenia, “El For” Accounting Center, GAA of the Republic of Armenia M. With Kotanyan Institute of Economics.

Events

The Chair of “General Economics”, in accordance with the pre-established schedule, the joint research strategy and thematic plan of the Chair, organizes and conducts scientific seminars once a month. Meetings are held with prestigious representatives of the field, leading specialists, with the aim of scientific research in parallel with the educational process, to acquaint the students with the changes and achievements in the field. Regular visits to the Central Bank and other sectoral structures are organized.

The Chair of General Economics at the Faculty of Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the EEC has developed educational programs for bachelor's and master's degree. Both compulsory and optional courses in general vocational and specialization included in the relevant curricula for existing specialties the programs have a clearly defined structure, including all the required modern components: general description of the course, description of the subject, purpose and tasks of the course, expectations of the course, methods of implementation, policy, evaluation system, course volume, thematic distribution by semesters, calendar plan, course description and questionnaires. Subject programs are compiled by the faculty of the department (independently or as a result of teamwork), taking into account the data of other local and international institutions the policy of establishing coherence with the educational programs, reviewed once a year, is updated taking into account the experience of the previous year and the results of anonymous surveys conducted among students at the end of the course.
