About the Student Council

The Student Council of Yerevan Gladzor University was established in 1990. Over the years, its development and activities have been guided and led by dedicated individuals, including Narine Aleksanyan, Gevorg Mkrtchyan, Arusyak Saribekyan, Mamikon Khurshudyan, Rima Aydinyan, Zaruhi Sargsyan, Marine Mkrtchyan, Karen Davityan, and Ani Najaryan. The Council is currently presided over by Ida Yeznakyan. The Student Council of Yerevan Gladzor University is an elected, self-governing body that operates independently of any political or external agendas. It serves as a unifying platform for students, focusing on the identification of their priorities and interests and addressing issues arising from them. The Council functions in accordance with its Charter, which is regularly reviewed and amended to reflect changes and developments in student life. The primary mission of the Student Council is to ensure the active involvement of YGU students in the academic process and in the educational and cultural initiatives organized by the University.

Activities of the Student Council

The activities of the Student Council are guided by the principles and directives outlined in its Charter, which serve as the foundation for its operations. The Council also plays a key role in planning and carrying out a variety of student-centered initiatives and events. Taking into account students’ aspiration to receive education not only through formal academic instruction but also via non-formal learning platforms—and recognizing that Yerevan Gladzor University places high-quality education at the core of its mission—it has been decided to adopt “The Culture of Education” as a central guiding principle in the planning of the Student Council’s activities. “The Culture of Education” encompasses initiatives aimed at fostering students’ personal development, communication skills, cultural and philosophical awareness, and professional worldview. The Student Council is actively engaged in promoting and strengthening a culture of quality within YGU. The Role of a Student in Ensuring the Quality of Education

Yerevan Gladzor University, recognizing the crucial role of students in the process of ensuring educational quality, consistently conducts various initiatives aimed at identifying student concerns and assessing their perceptions regarding the organization of the academic process, knowledge acquisition, and the overall management of education. Regular data collection activities are carried out by YGU’s Quality Centre, other subdivisions, administrative staff, as well as faculty representatives. These activities include anonymous surveys, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions. Various student groups participate in these activities with the aim of collecting data not only from a portion of the student body but also to obtain a comprehensive overall perspective. The results of these surveys and studies are carefully analyzed and, when necessary, applied to improve the organization of future academic processes.
