Faculty of Medicine

About the Faculty

The Chair of General Medicine at Yerevan Gladzor University was established in 2021. Despite being relatively new, the Chair has already attracted significant attention from both Armenian and international students. Currently, approximately 200 international students are enrolled at Yerevan Gladzor University. The success of the faculties of General Medicine and Dentistry is evidenced by the students’ enthusiasm for attending classes, their positive feedback regarding the University’s administration and academic staff, and most importantly, the high quality of the lectures provided. YGU follows a policy of providing an individualized approach to each student.

From the day of its establishment, the Chair was led by Lilit Sukiasyan, PhD in Biological Sciences. Since 2024, the Chair has been headed by H. G. Vahradyan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor.

Collaboration

To facilitate undergraduate academic, clinical, and research internships, the Faculties of General Medicine and Dentistry at Yerevan Gladzor University maintain active partnerships with some of the Republic’s leading medical institutions, including Erebuni Medical Centre, Armenia Medical Centre, and various dental clinics. The University also collaborates closely with secondary vocational medical education institutions such as the Erebuni Medical Academy Foundation, Gavar State Medical College, Vardenis Medical-Humanities College, Ararat State Medical College, and Yerevan Medical College after Mehrabyan.

Events

The Chair of General Medicine organizes and conducts academic seminars on a monthly basis, following a pre-established schedule aligned with the Chair’s unified research strategy and thematic agenda. Regular meetings are also held with distinguished representatives and leading professionals in the field, with the aim of keeping students informed about current trends and advancements in the sector alongside the academic curriculum. As part of their professional courses, students - accompanied by academic staff - visit relevant clinics and laboratories to gain practical exposure to real-world medical environments.

Educational programs

The Chair has developed educational programs for both local and international students within the Faculties of General Medicine and Dentistry.

The course syllabi for both core and specialization-specific courses—whether compulsory or elective - included in the academic curricula follow a clearly defined structure. These syllabi incorporate all the essential modern components, including: a general course overview, course description, objectives and learning outcomes, expected competencies, teaching methodologies, course policies, assessment methods, course workload, thematic breakdown by semester, academic calendar, detailed course description, and exam questionnaires. The course syllabi are developed by the faculty members of the Chair (either individually or through collaborative efforts), taking into account the policy of aligning the programs with equivalent curricula offered by local and international institutions. The syllabi are reviewed annually and updated based on the experience of the previous academic year, as well as the results of anonymous student surveys conducted at the end of each course.
