The Faculty of Law of “Gladzor” University of Yerevan was established in 1990. Until 1993, the Faculty consisted of the Department of “Subjects of State Studies”, headed by Ph.D., Assoc. Henrik Mkrtichi Khachatryan and the Chair of “Criminological Subjects”, Ph.D., Assoc. Under the leadership of Robert Zaveni Avagyan.
In order to make the work of the Faculty more efficient and systematic, in 1993 Artsrun, under the efforts of Gurgeni Edilyan and under the leadership of Gurgen Edilyan, established a chair “General Jurisprudence”.
From 1998 to 2000, the work of the Chair was headed by Ph.D., Assoc. , Gurgen Haykaz Ayvazyan ad in 2001-2002 - Ph.D., Associate Professor, State Councilor of Justice of the First Class Mikayel Vakhtangi Grigoryan.
From 2003 to the present day, the duties of the head of the department are performed by the Ph.D., Prof.Zhora Danieli Jhangiryan:
When organizing its activities, the Department is guided by the decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, the Scientific Council of the University;by the charter of the chair, with the semi-annual work plans of the Chair and other internal regulatory documents.
From 2006-07, the faculty has been transitioning to a three-level system of teaching: bachelor's, master's and postgraduate studies.
A credit accumulation and transfer system has been introduced since 2007.
The Chair of “General Jurisprudence” carries out a wide range of scientific activities. The professors of the department actively participate in the annual conferences of the faculty and postgraduate students of “Gladzor” University. The scientific reports presented at the conference are published by the professor of the university in collections of materials of the annual conferences of lecturers and postgraduate students.
The Department has undertaken the preparation and publication of a number of textbooks, monographs, educational and methodological manuals.
Students of the Faculty of Law have the opportunity to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice, such as organizing and conducting court games, acquiring skills in organizing and conducting trials, conducting examinations in the Law Clinic and Forensic Center created for this purpose.
To implement the goals and tasks of the Chair, to ensure the achievement of the final results outlined in the professional educational program of the specialty “Jurisprudence” and other purposes, the teaching staff of the Department has been constantly replenished and is replenished with doctor-professors, candidates and associate professors. The teaching of courses of a practical nature continues to be carried out by professionals engaged in practical work in the field. At present, 30 lecturers teach at the Chair of “General Jurisprudence”.
In order to organize pre-graduate educational and research internships, the Department of General Law of “Gladzor” University cooperates with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the National Assembly, the Prosecutor's Office, the Chamber of Advocates, the Constitutional Court, the Expert Center of the Republic of Armenia, the National Expertise Center of the Republic of Armenia, the National Institute of Expertise with the juror.
The Chair of “General Jurisprudence” organizes and conducts a scientific seminar once a month, in accordance with the established schedule, the unified research strategy and thematic plan of the department.

The Department of General Jurisprudence in the field of existing professions at the Faculty of Law of the EEC has developed educational programs for bachelor's and master's degree. Both compulsory and optional courses in general professional and specialization included in the relevant curricula for existing specialties the programs have a clearly defined structure, including all the required modern components: general description of the course, description of the subject, purpose and objectives of the course, expectations of the course, methods of implementation, policy , the evaluation system, the volume of the course, the thematic distribution by semesters, the calendar plan, the course description and the questionnaires. The curricula are drawn up by the teaching staff of the department (independently or as a result of teamwork), taking into account the given education of other local and international institutions the policy of establishing coherence with the programs, reviewed once a year, is updated taking into account the experience of the previous year and the results of anonymous surveys conducted among students at the end of the course.
