On April 23, 2025, Gladzor University of Yerevan presented at the IV International Conference “Metaprofessional Competencies as Dimensionsof International and Intercultural Communication in the Global ProfessionalEnvironment” (IV International Conference “Metaprofessional Competencies as dimensions of International and Intercultural Communication in the Global ProfessionalEnvironment”). At the initiative of the Chair of Languages of the EEC, students of the specialties of International Relations and Law of the EEC participated in the international conference and the professors of the Chair of Languages.
The organizer of the conference was the Department of Foreign Languages No. 1 of the Russian University of Economics and the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities (PRUE Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities). Two expert-speakers were invited: Head of the Department of Languages of the EEC, Ph.D.., Associate Professor Sahakyan and Dr. Natalya Fritzler - Lecturer at Rhein-Ruhr University (Bochum), Ruhr-West University (Mulheim) and University of Duisburg-Essen (Dortmund).
After the opening speech of the organizing party, Lilit Sahakyan delivered a lecture on “Beyonddomain-specific Expertise: Metaprofessional Competencies in ESP in EMI Contexts for Effective International and Intercultural Communication”, presenting the models of ESP training in narrow professional English, the challenges of working in the EMI environment, as well as strategic steps aimed at the development of metaprofessional skills necessary for international communication.
The students of the EEC were students of the 1st 3rd year of the Bachelor of International Relations and the 1st year of the Bachelor's and Master's degree in the specialty of Law, as well as the Lecturer of the Department of Languages K. Baghdasaryan and laboratory assistant of the department M. Harutyunyan.
The local and foreign students of the inviting party made research speeches, emphasizing the importance of metacognitive and intercultural skills in the modern professional context, with examples from Russia, Germany, China, Japan and Vietnam.
